If the author was trying to expose how thin-skinned many white people are, he succeeded.

I think (middle aged white guy speaking) we can grow a thicker skin and be less offended by what black writers write. Their critiques, no matter how raw, are not automatically wrong. All readers are free to agree/disagree/like/hate/feel abused/etc regardless.
